Lefties Have Nothing on the PS-er

So I’m doubly blessed, I have the blessing of the challenges of Poland Syndrome AND the blessings of the challenges of being a lefty.

Any other lefties out there?

3rd grade was loads of fun, learning cursive from a sweet teacher who very honestly said, “I don’t know how to teach you cursive.  Just watch what I do and adapt it to work for you.”

All you lefties know about the ink smudge issue.

Scissors are made for righties.

Can openers are made for righties.

School desks conspire against all lefties. (no wonder I have horrible posture)

Spiral notebooks and binders are simply torture devices.

(If you have no idea what I’m talking about, welcome right-handed friend, and stay with me…)
But for all of the fun left-handed challenges, there is a new conspiracy out there, not against one hand or another, but against all with limb deficiencies.  It is driving me MAD!

Have any of you seen these yet?

So these paper towel dispensers are the ones you find in stores and restaurants.  This particular one was in my local WalMart.  Is it a conspiracy against us?

Can you see that picture?  It shows that a two-handed pull is the proper procedure.  The middle image shows a one handed pull with a big-ole X through it.

When I encounter this Kimberly-Clark dispenser, my instinct is to scream, “I CAN’T PULL WITH 2 HANDS!!!”

Thankfully for everyone, I don’t scream out-loud, but I sure to think it.  Well, at least I did the first few times.  At this point I simply sigh and say, “here we go again.”

I am sure there is a purpose for this design.  It may reduce waste because it limits how much paper towel can be taken at one time.  It may make manufacturing less expensive somehow, as this system is less complicated/expensive than others.

I don’t know the exact purpose, but I suspect there was one.  It was an intentional design by the Kimberly-Clark engineers and was approved by the Kimberly-Clark finance people.  Perfectly well-intentioned folks, simply unaware that these machines create great difficulty for a whole group of people.
