Being Part of the Solution
It’s so easy to complain, isn’t it? After all, complaining comes so naturally to us. I’ve never had to teach and of my four children how to complain or how to be ungrateful. I could give one child a heaping bowl of popcorn, but if his brother has 2 kernels more, all of a sudden his is discontent.
Often, not always, those who have the most “legitimate” reasons to complain instead are the most grateful and contented people. I am purposing to grow in my thankfulness and to reduce my whining and complaining. We’ll see how that goes in the long run, but for the near future, instead of complaining in my mind about a particular difficulty, I’ve decided to create a solution.
I love the saying, “If your not part of the solution your part of the problem.”
Well, today I’m choosing to be a part of the solution.
I’ve blogged before about the frustration of peeling vegetables. As a mom, and as a human being that needs to eat, it is difficult to simply avoid the troubling task. I suppose I could only buy frozen vegetables and avoid anything that benefits from being peeled, but we eat way too many potatoes and carrot and prefer the flavor with the outside peeled. And so, how can stop complaining about the difficulty and work towards a solution?
Dun dun dun…I am working on a vegetable peeler design that will be more compatible with my hand issues, and I am hoping more compatible for you as well. Between amputees, whether military veteran or otherwise, and those with various birth deformities, it seems to me many of us would benefit from a design more tailored to our challenges.
The first step will be reaching out to some engineers who can work up a prototype from my design.
I’ll keep you posted on the progress.

Where do I go to sign up? I’ll be a product tester! Yay!
Sounds great! I’m working with another group of students to fine tune the idea, but I will keep your name for when I’m ready for testers!!
